Fabric Dyeing & A Finish

I had been wanting to stitch The Sampler Girls Primitive Valentine Cupboard Sampler for awhile now and I finally got around to doing so!! Yeah!!
I was going to use an antique white fabric but then I remembered in the pattern Tanya had mentioned about coffee or tea dyeing. I was thinking all of this while pouring my 2nd cup of morning coffee . I just so happend to have some left in the pot. So I quickly got my white fabric and began. Tanya also mentioned putting a splash of vanilla extract into the coffee so I did! I have some wonderful vanilla extract from Mexico that was a gift from my neighbors when they were there a couple of months ago. If you have never smelled vanilla from Mexico it is absolutely wonderful! What a difference from the one you buy in the supermarket.

I followed Tanyas instructions and in no time I had the perfect color and began my stitching.

Here is what I came up with

The same piece is in the pictures above. The first pic is the front and the 2nd pic is of the back already attached to my stretcher bars. And here is the finished pin pillow

I have to tell you it was so relaxing stitching this piece. The smell of the coffee mixed with vanilla on the fabric was heavenly! It was amazing! Although the scent has diminished somewhat you can still smell a hint of vanilla coffee. I can't wait to dye something else!
Thanks Tanya!
