I heard from Jan this morning that she received the Summer exchange I sent her for the Seasonal Exchanges group.
I chose to stitch Seascape from The Cross Eyed Cricket's Always Summer 1 book. I have had these patterns (all 3 of the books) for quite sometime now. I had even purchased a bunch of the fabric and Kreinik threads that are called for in the designs. But every time I thought of stitching them the finishing part was what stopped me. It just seemed too scary lol
So I when I was thinking of what to stitch for a Summer exchange these were the first things that came to mind. I knew I should just "go for it" so I did.
In reality they really weren't hard to put together. The hardest part was cutting the foam into the correct size and shape. They do have a template in the book but you still have to try and even it out etc. It also called for a spacer button to put the ribbon straps through as well as attach to the fabric and there was only 1 place you could order them from. So I improvised and used a pony bead which worked out perfect. I didn't have the turtle button that they show in the picture but I did have a starfish button which in my opinion went much better with the design. I guess the turtle was suppose to be a sea turtle?
I used the 30ct Celadon hand dyed linen by R & R, the Kreinik threads and the DMC called for in the design.
All in all it was a fun stitch and it was hard to let go for sure! I am so glad Jan loved what I made for her :)
So now I have the confidence to make more. I have most of the stuff for it so why not? I also kept the templates I made for this one so it should go smoother.
Not much stitching going on here unfortunately. I've been busy trying to get the last bit of fun in for summer. My DS goes back to school on August 22 so we have been trying to do some things before it gets here. That and it has been so darn hot!! The heat just knocks me out and by the time I sit down at night to watch tv I am too tired to stitch. That will change though because I have joined in a few more exchanges that I want to get a jump on them. I figure I can get ahead if I get going now. We shall see!
Thanks so much for all of your wonderful comments! I appreciate each and everyone of you for stopping by!
Have a great weekend!

How cute is that! And such a great finish for summer. You did a great job with the finishing too.
Brilliant finish Lisa, I reckon you did an amazing job on it, and I agree that the starfish fits it perfectly.
